The challenge
The Official Store of Minecraft sold licensed clothing, plush, figures, books and accessories to Minecraft fans around the world. It was run by J!NX, Minecraft's merchandise licensee, and linked straight back to Minecraft.net, so it had to look and behave like part of Minecraft's own world.
The store ran on the same platform as J!NX's own site, and moving it meant meeting the standards of two brands at once: J!NX's team, who ran it day to day, and Minecraft's team, who reviewed how it looked.

The approach
We ran it as its own Shopify Plus build, on a shared plan with J!NX and Minecraft: theme options first, then business requirements, a style guide and mockups to sign off, then the build, QA and launch.
Minecraft's feedback set the design direction. Its side asked for the logo centered to mirror Minecraft.net and for cleaner type, so we matched the store's header, navigation and fonts to the game's site.
What we built
We configured the homepage, navigation, collection and product pages, cart, branded checkout, payments, shipping, and the help and contact pages. Collection pages carry New, On Sale and Sold Out badges, and the header links back to Minecraft.net.
For fans outside the US we added translation and automatic currency switching. We also set up a wishlist, gift cards, email sign-up pop-ups and the email platform, then worked through rounds of review with J!NX's team on the header, collection pages, product pages, wishlist and cart.

Accessibility and launch marketing
Before launch we ran a WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility audit across the store's main shopping journeys and logged the issues it found for fixing.
We also planned the store's launch marketing: an email welcome series for new subscribers, and Facebook and Instagram campaigns for plush launches and back-to-school, aimed at cart abandoners, recent visitors and past buyers. The work ran alongside J!NX's own move to Shopify Plus.
See the J!NX case studyThe results
The official Minecraft store moved to Shopify Plus with a look that matched Minecraft.net, translation and local currencies for a global audience, and an accessibility audit behind it.
J!NX's team could run it alongside their own store on the same platform, with the same tools and the same development partner.
