Taking over Shopify Plus development for menswear brand 7Diamonds

7Diamonds makes men's shirts, pants, knits and outerwear, and sells them on Shopify Plus. An independent developer had built its store, and the brand's team found him slow to respond and the site full of issues. The color swatches and filters had never been built right.

The theme was its own obstacle. Its code was compressed and couldn't be read, so simple changes took extra hours and some requests couldn't be done at all. At the same time 7Diamonds was getting ready to launch its Infinity collection and wanted the site easier to shop.

DYODE came on as the brand's development and design team on a monthly block of hours. The 7Diamonds team set the priorities, and we shipped the work in two-week sprints with planned releases.

A project manager was the single point of contact, and we helped the brand audit the site and write the requirements for its new collection launches before any code was written.

We fixed the color swatches across the store: round swatches, clean color names, the right image on hover, and product pages that show only the photos for the color a shopper picks. We fixed product images that disappeared when a shopper chose a sold-out variant.

For the Infinity launch we built the landing page from the brand's mockups and gave Infinity its own bold spot in the menu. We also built a gift guide, a press page, a wholesale application and a split banner section the team could fill on its own.

Sales ran on scripts we wrote: tiered Buy More, Save More discounts, a free pack of masks added to the cart once an order passed a set amount, and final sale badges on the sale collection.

Gift cards got a recipient name, email and message, a choice of designs, and a physical or digital option. We added Yotpo star ratings to collection pages, fixed reviews on product pages, added Afterpay messaging, and audited the store's apps and optimized its images for speed.

7Diamonds traded a slow, single-developer setup for a team that worked from its own priority list and shipped on a regular schedule.

The swatch and image problems that had dogged the store were fixed, the Infinity collection launched with its own page, and the brand's team could run sales, gift cards and new content without waiting on a developer for every change.
