A Shopify Theme Refresh for John Legend's Inclusive Skincare Brand

Loved01, John Legend's skincare brand built for melanin-rich skin, was already live on Shopify Plus - but the existing theme hadn't kept pace with the brand. The purchase area of the product page was cluttered, below-the-fold content wasn't pulling its weight, and the site's global sections and navigation needed to catch up with a growing catalog.
The brief was a refresh, not a rebuild: modernize the PDP, collection pages, and navigation in place on a live, revenue-generating store, meet ADA accessibility requirements, and ship through a disciplined UAT process without disrupting the business.
The Results
The redesign shipped in phased ticket releases over several months, with every ticket tested across browsers and devices and taken through client UAT before going live - all without disrupting a store that was already generating revenue.
Loved01 came out with a cleaner, conversion-focused product page, a reorganized collection and navigation experience, and a theme brought up to ADA accessibility standards in partnership with LevelAccess.
The Approach
DYODE ran the engagement as a UX design and development partnership: discovery to align on the brand, products, and goals, followed by mockups for the PDP, collection pages, and global sections, then implementation shipped in tickets on a biweekly release cadence.
Every ticket went through multiple rounds of client UAT before release, and DYODE partnered with the Loved01 team and LevelAccess on ADA compliance, testing across browsers and devices ahead of each launch.
What We Built
On the PDP, we rebuilt the add-to-cart section, added an upsell section and a benefits module above the fold, and integrated a UGC section. Sitewide, we redesigned the global sections the theme is built from - Image with Text, Rotating Benefits, Rich Text, Hero Banner, Featured Collection, and Text Columns with Icons.
We also redesigned the collection page and built a new Shop All landing page with separated categories, later extended with dedicated content tiles, and reorganized the main navigation with dropdown menus for easier product discovery.
