Poseidon Bikes

A Multi-Year Shopify Redesign for an Orange County Bike Brand

Visit Site
INPUT · THE CHALLENGE

The Challenge

Poseidon Bikes sells gravel and adventure bikes direct to riders, where the product page has to do the work of a bike shop: build confidence in the frame, the components, and the fit before a rider ever throws a leg over it. A usability audit of their Shopify storefront found the opposite - a weak above-the-fold PDP, no sticky add-to-cart, a confusing sizing experience, and no social proof to back up the sale.

Orange County-based Poseidon needed a partner who could rebuild the storefront around how people actually shop for a bike online, then keep shipping features as the catalog and the business grew.

STATUS · DIAGNOSING
OUTPUT · THE RESULTS

The Results

Poseidon Bikes went from a storefront flagged for weak product pages and no social proof to one built around sticky add-to-cart, real reviews, a bike-picking quiz, and a warranty system - shipped as a series of scoped, QA'd releases rather than a single risky relaunch.

Alongside that redesign, DYODE has kept Poseidon's demand-generation and retention channels running - paid search, paid social, and email/SMS - built on a modern, feature-rich Shopify foundation designed around how people actually shop for a bike online.

STATUS · DELIVERED

The Approach

DYODE partnered with Poseidon Bikes starting in late 2021, working as both their Shopify design and development team and their digital marketing partner - running paid search, paid social, and email/SMS alongside the storefront work from the beginning.

On the development side, the engagement ran in two phases: a ground-up redesign of the core storefront, working off the original usability audit as a north star, followed by a year of targeted feature work - much of it aimed squarely at the friction points the audit had flagged.

What We Built

We redesigned the homepage, cart, navigation, footer, and product page from a new brand style guide, then went deeper on the PDP with a sticky add-to-cart, an accordion product-details layout, a comparison carousel, and a social content feed - integrating Infinite Options for build-your-bike add-ons, Judge.me for reviews, and Rebuy for recommendations.

Beyond the redesign, we shipped a guided "Bike Finder" quiz to help riders pick the right model, Klaviyo back-in-stock notifications, a Quick View for product listings, and a Bike Registry and warranty-claim system tied into customer accounts. We also built a Calendly-powered scheduling page so riders could book time directly with the Poseidon team, and led a full accessibility remediation from a paid ADA audit.

Digital Marketing

Alongside the storefront work, DYODE has run digital marketing for Poseidon Bikes from the start of the engagement and continues to today - paid search, paid social campaigns on Meta, and email/SMS marketing - keeping demand generation and retention working in step with the product experience. Email and SMS have consistently been Poseidon's strongest-converting channels.
